Baita Golla

    Zona delle Orobie

On the gentle slopes of Mount Golla, facing “del Riso” valley, this small building (also called “Baita Golla” Hut, altitude 1756 m) is a useful base for hikers who want to walk the many paths climbing the close and easy summits of Mount Grem and Mount Golla.

The landscape is characteristically alpine, with the rocky pinnacles of Mount Alben in one direction and the dolomitic massif of Mount Arera in the other.

The project of renovating Baita Golla started at the end of 70s, when Mr. Gianni Radici - the owner – proposed to the subsection of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) in Leffe to run the building and make it a public hut. The idea was put aside as it was deemed too expensive. In the 80s, however, the need for a hut grew stronger among the members of the club, who contacted the owner again and found an agreement for a “free tenancy” of the Baita. The building was then completely demolished and rebuilt taking care to maintain the same characteristics of the original external wall, using natural stone linked with mortar, typical of the huts in the area. The works (performed by numerous volunteers members of Leffe  C.A.I. subsection in their free time) took five years: from 1985 to 1990, when the inauguration was held to celebrate the 25th year of foundation of the Subsection.

The Baita is dedicated to Vincenzo Pozzoli, a member who perished after a day work at the hut, where he helped as a carpenter.

This Baita does not provide food.

The project of renovating the Baita Golla started at the end of 70s, when Mr. Gianni Radici, the owner, proposed the subsection of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) in Leffe to run the building and make it a public rifugio. The idea was put aside as it was deemed too expensive. In the 80s however, the need of a hut grew stronger among the members of the club, who contacted the owner again and found an agreement for a “free tenancy” of the Baita. The members of the club volunteered to carry out the works in their spare time from 1985 to 1990: the old building was completely rebuilt using the same materials - the walls are made of rocks and mortar, as in the other baitas in the area. The Baita is dedicated to Mr. Vincenzo Pozzoli, who perished after a day work at the baita, where he helped as a carpenter.
