Descrizione
One of the highest mountain huts (2297 m) in the Bergamo Alps and probably the most difficult to access. For this reason, here you can find only ‘hard core’ hikers and mountain lovers.
The Hut is located in front of the east face of Diavolo di Tenda Peak, which is just short of 3000 m; some small glaciers are in the area.
On 29 July 1890, the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) organized a trip to Pizzo Redorta peak. Due to bad weather, they were forced to look for a shelter in an old miners house, which was in poor conditions. Shortly after the club decided to rebuild it, the works started in 1894 and lasted three months, until the “Rifugio della Brunona” Hut was ready on the 23rd of September. It’s the oldest mountain hut in the Bergamo province, now dedicated to Antonio Baroni, one of the pioneers of the Bergamo Alps (Orobie) mountaineering.
