The mountain hut has been recently dedicated to the mountaineer Mario Merelli, who perished on these mountains in January 2012. It is located at an altitude of 1891 m in one of the wildest and most stunning spots in the Orobie (Bergamo Alps), close to the so-called “Conca dei Giganti”,  a little valley surrounded by all the highest peaks of the group (Pizzo Coca peak, 3050 m and Pizzo Redorta peak, 3037 m). Many climbing routes are possible, as well as reaching the “Vedretta del Lupo” small glacier and Corti bivouac, both beyond Coca pass.

The hut (a property of the Bergamo section of the Italian Alpine Club - CAI) was built in 1919 on a project of the engineer and mountaineer Luigi Albani, and it was initially dedicated to 11 members of the club who died in WWI. In 1957 the hut was expanded to 60 beds and electricity was installed.
