Starting from Camoscio Hut (1781 m) climb the dirt road until to reach again the path n° 101. Continue with steep slope in the dell under the Lemma Pass (also reached by path n° 116) until to reach Fontanini hut. The path continues along the hillside crossing the south side of the mount Cima di Lemma - without a great difference in altitude - through woods and grazing areas. Important vestiges of the ancient pastoral activity are the stone fences built to preserve livestock - called “bàrech”(pronunce: bàrek) -  and recognizable once you enter the valley under the Tartano Pass (2102 m), which is now reachable with few turns. Along the whole Tartano Pass, you can observe remains of trenches of the so-called “Linea Cadorna”, a defensive work of the World War I, created as a defensive line to counteract a hypothetical austrian advanced through neutral Switzerland but never used for military purposes. The panorama gives a detailed view of the Retiche Alps, from the Mount Disgrazia to the Val Masino, to the peaks of Val Chiavenna and Spluga. Nearby, you can see easily the three Porcile Lakes, located on the Valtellina side.

    Please note

On the geoportal, the long path n° 101 has been divided into seven parts: 101_1, 101_2, 101_3, 101_4, 101_5, 101_6, and 101_7,  to better describe the different stages.

However, the signage on the ground up to the Tartano Pass will report only the number 101.
