125 - Lago di Valzurio

Dopo aver parcheggiato in via Bartolomeo Colleoni, ci prepariamo a partire sul percorso di oggi. Volgiamo lo sguardo al punto di partenza ed iniziamo il nostro cammino. Superiamo sulla destra la rotonda posta in via Cesare Battisti. Proseguiamo in via IV Novembre ed al passaggio pedonale svoltiamo a sinistra. Siamo ora in via Fucine che ci condurrà alla nostra meta. La strada ora si stringe in un piccolo sentiero tra il torrente Ogna e le mura dell’Istituto Beato Palazzolo. Il fondo è misto di piccoli ciottoli e terra che non ostacolano il cammino. Raggiungiamo e superiamo il ponticello asfaltato, alla nostra destra di via Molini. Al primo bivio svoltiamo a destra e proseguiamo per via Fucine. L’asfalto ci abbandona e proseguiamo su una strada agro silvo pastorale con fondo in terra. Ora affrontiamo un lungo rettilineo su strada compatta e ben tenuta. Raggiungiamo alla nostra sinistra una piccola cappella in muratura. Dietro la grata vediamo delle immagini frutto della devozione popolare. Proseguiamo il nostro cammino scorgendo un cascinale alla nostra sinistra. Alla nostra destra compare una cascata artificiale dal canale posto in alto sopra il torrente Ogna. Di fronte a noi compare una piccola centrale idroelettrica dell’ENEL. Lungo il cammino, alla nostra sinistra ammiriamo una condotta forzata che fornisce acqua alla centrale. Ora il percorso comincia a salire ed il fondo risulta meno curato. Alla nostra sinistra scorgiamo una piccola cascata, che ci rallegra il cammino con il suo ritmo. Di fronte a noi scorgiamo e superiamo un grosso masso alla nostra destra. Abbiamo raggiunto un ponticello sul torrente Ogna, che ci permette di passare sulla sponda destra. È presente un palo con varie indicazioni sulle possibili direzioni da seguire. La strada sale, la valle tende a stringersi, ma il percorso e ben curato. Ad una curva del percorso, sulla sinistra della valle, compare in una grotta un manufatto in cemento. Abbiamo raggiunto la fine della strada agro silvo pastorale, qui la valle è molto stretta. Svoltiamo a sinistra su un piccolo ponticello metallico e seguiamo il percorso su strette scalinate. Abbiamo raggiunto il primo sbarramento che crea il laghetto inferiore. Il sentiero è ora stretto ed il cammino è agevolato dalle protezioni verso valle con paletti e cavi metallici. Ora il tratto non ha più le protezioni metalliche, quindi proseguiamo con attenzione lungo il sentiero. Raggiungiamo e superiamo una frana dalla montagna alla nostra sinistra, che superiamo agevolmente. Abbiamo raggiunto lo sbarramento del lago, sullo sfondo, ammiriamo il laghetto superiore. Riprendiamo la strada del ritorno contenti di avere raggiunto i laghetti della Valzurio.

After parking in Via Bartolomeo Colleoni, we get ready to set off on today’s route. We glance back at the starting point and begin our walk. We pass the roundabout on Via Cesare Battisti on our right. We continue along Via IV Novembre and turn left at the pedestrian crossing. We are now on Via Fucine, which will lead us to our destination. The road now narrows into a small path between the Ogna stream and the walls of the Istituto Beato Palazzolo. The surface is a mixture of small pebbles and earth, which does not hinder our progress. We reach and cross the tarmac bridge, to our right of Via Molini. At the first junction, we turn right and continue along Via Fucine. The tarmac gives way and we continue along a dirt track through farmland and woodland. We now come to a long straight stretch of well-maintained, compact road. On our left, we pass a small brick chapel. Behind the grille, we can see images reflecting popular devotion. We continue our walk, spotting a farmhouse on our left. To our right, an artificial waterfall appears, fed by the canal situated high above the Ogna stream. Ahead of us stands a small ENEL hydroelectric power station. Along the way, on our left, we can see a penstock supplying water to the power station. Now the path begins to climb and the surface becomes less well-maintained. To our left we spot a small waterfall, whose rhythmic flow brightens our walk. Ahead of us, we see and pass a large boulder on our right. We have reached a small bridge over the Ogna stream, which allows us to cross to the right bank. There is a signpost with various directions to follow. The path climbs, the valley narrows, but the route is well maintained. At a bend in the path, on the left-hand side of the valley, a concrete structure appears in a cave. We have reached the end of the agricultural and pastoral track; here the valley is very narrow. We turn left onto a small metal footbridge and follow the path up narrow steps. We have reached the first dam that forms the lower lake. The path is now narrow, and the walk is made easier by safety barriers facing the valley, consisting of posts and metal cables. Now the section no longer has metal barriers, so we proceed with caution along the path. We reach and pass a landslide from the mountain on our left, which we cross easily. We have reached the lake’s dam; in the background, we admire the upper lake. We set off on the return journey, pleased to have reached the lakes of Valzurio.
