133 - Dalla Chiesetta di San Carlo al Ponte del Gleno

Prima di parcheggiare, acquistare il “Compila e parcheggia giornaliero”, nei negozi di Vilminore. Abbiamo scelto il parcheggio in località Bares, nei pressi della Chiesetta di San Carlo. Sul lato destro della strada SP58, inizia una strada sterrata, che è segnalata da un palo indicatore. Ci incamminiamo sul percorso, (Sentiero CAI 443), siamo anche sulla Via Decia. Alla nostra sinistra vediamo una casetta e il fondo della strada è in acciottolato. Il fondo cambia continuamente, ora è un misto di ed erba. Sulla sinistra vediamo una freccia segnaletica che ci indica la presenza dell’”Arboreto alpino Gleno”. Proseguendo incontriamo una casetta rustica, con parcheggiato un fuoristrada per il trasporto materiali. La pendenza si riduce ed il fondo ora è compatto e facilmente percorribile. Sulla destra raggiungiamo una piccola natività, inserita nella base di un albero reciso. Siamo decisamente nel bosco, il terreno è compatto ed il fondo è agevole. Raggiungiamo un ponticello, che ci permette di superare una condotta forzata, per il trasporto dell’acqua. Sul lato sinistro del percorso ammiriamo la frazione di Bueggio. Incontriamo una nuova casetta, molto ben tenuta sul lato sinistro del percorso. In fondo a questo tratto in acciottolato, sul lato destro del percorso, vediamo una splendida costruzione. Prima di raggiungere la casa, incontriamo sulla destra una fontanella, che distribuisce dell’acqua. Siamo usciti temporaneamente dal bosco e vediamo sulla sinistra, dei prati ricchi di erba. Dopo essere rientrati nel bosco, sulla sinistra incontriamo la “Baita del Nono”. Su un tratto accidentato del percorso sono presenti, sulla sinistra, dei piccoli tronchi tagliati. Il fondo si mantiene con pietre affioranti dal terreno, bisogna prestare attenzione, in caso di piogge. Sulla destra troviamo un pannello che ci informa sulla presenza della “Formica Ruffa”. Il percorso ora spiana, su di un fondo in piccolo acciottolato, il cammino è abbastanza agevole. Dopo la piccola frana di sassi sulla destra, vediamo in fondo uno spiazzo tra gli alberi. Abbiamo raggiunto la località Ponte del Gleno, con un’ampia zona ristoro. Di fronte a noi vediamo una zona picnic, con tavoli e panche e delle piccole sculture sulla destra. Ci soffermiamo a leggere il pannello informativo sui frammenti di storia locale. Abbiamo raggiunto il “Ponte del Gleno”, dal nome del torrente viene superato. Durante la discesa, possiamo ammirare il versante Nord della Presolana. Al termine del cammino raggiungiamo la chiesetta di San Carlo, da dove siamo partiti questa mattina.

Before parking, buy a “Fill in and Park” day ticket from shops in Vilminore. We chose the car park in Bares, near the little church of San Carlo. On the right-hand side of the SP58 road, a dirt track begins, marked by a signpost. We set off along the path (CAI Trail 443), which is also part of the Via Decia. To our left we see a small house and the road surface is cobbled. The surface changes constantly; now it is a mixture of gravel and grass. On the left we see a signpost indicating the “Gleno Alpine Arboretum”. As we continue, we come across a rustic cottage with an off-road vehicle parked outside, used for transporting materials. The gradient levels off and the ground is now firm and easy to walk on. On the right, we come to a small nativity scene set against the base of a felled tree. We are well into the woods now; the ground is firm and the path is easy to walk on. We reach a small bridge, which allows us to cross a penstock used for water transport. On the left-hand side of the path, we can admire the hamlet of Bueggio. We come across another small, very well-maintained cottage on the left-hand side of the path. At the end of this cobbled section, on the right-hand side of the path, we see a splendid building. Before reaching the house, we come across a drinking fountain on the right, which provides water. We have temporarily left the woods and can see grassy meadows on the left. After re-entering the woods, we come across the “Baita del Nono” on the left. On a rough stretch of the path, there are small cut logs on the left. The ground is uneven with stones protruding from the soil; care must be taken in wet weather. On the right, we find a sign informing us of the presence of the “Formica Ruffa” ant. The path now levels out onto a small cobbled surface, making for fairly easy going. After the small rockfall on the right, we see a clearing among the trees in the distance. We have reached the "Ponte del Gleno" area, which has a large refreshment area. In front of us is a picnic area with tables and benches, and some small sculptures on the right. We stop to read the information panel on fragments of local history. We have reached the “Ponte del Gleno”, named after the stream it crosses.
During the descent, we can admire the northern slope of the Presolana. At the end of the walk, we reach the little church of San Carlo, from where we set off this morning.
