144 - La Valle del Giongo

Dopo aver parcheggiato in piazza Filippo Salvi o in altri parcheggi di Botta di Sedrina ci incamminiamo. Iniziamo la salita in via del Giongo, che costeggerà l’omonimo torrente. Proseguiamo su un tratto asfaltato riservato ai pedoni. Sulla nostra destra scorgiamo “La casa dei ragazzi”, costruzione molto bella. Alla nostra sinistra scorgiamo un pannello, che ci illustra le caratteristiche della Valle del Giongo. Proseguendo raggiungiamo e superiamo un piccolo crocefisso in legno. Al bivio proseguiamo diritti sul terreno ora di terra compatta. Il sentiero si stringe leggermente e passiamo sotto un arco di vegetazione. Alla nostra destra è presente una panchina in legno, per una piccola sosta. Compaiono delle barriere in legno sulla destra, messe a protezione da una possibile caduta. La barriera sulla destra, ci segue per un bel tratto del percorso. Cominciano a comparire dei sassi sul fondo del percorso. Alla nostra sinistra raggiungiamo e superiamo la seconda area di sosta. Ora i sassi sono dei massi che ci impegnano nel cammino, proseguiamo con attenzione. Il fondo è cambiato e si è ulteriormente ristretto, ma il cammino prosegue senza difficoltà. Raggiungiamo sulla destra il secondo crocefisso in legno. Alla nostra sinistra compare un ampio spazio verde, molto ben curato, noi proseguiamo sulla sinistra. Il percorso ora si sviluppa nei pressi del torrente Giongo e in sassi aumentano. L’acqua scorre lentamente alla nostra destra, noi proseguiamo il cammino nella frescura. Risaliamo dal greto del torrente per raggiungere la fine del pianoro erboso alla nostra sinistra. Il fondo cambia da sentiero a pista agro silvo pastorale, in cemento. Al bivio proseguiamo sulla sinistra, sul fondo di terra compatta. Raggiungiamo e superiamo un guado su un affluente del torrente Giongo. La strada ora inizia a salire su un fondo cementato e sassi. Il palo segnaletico ci informa, che proseguendo sulla destra arriveremo a Bruntino Alto. Superiamo facilmente, un secondo guado cementato. Ora il fondo del percorso è in terra compatta e piccoli sassolini, il cammino è agevole. Abbiamo raggiunto alla nostra sinistra la cappelletta di Bruntino Alto. Dopo una breve sosta, ritorniamo verso Botta di Serina, leggendo le informazioni sul pannello a sinistra. Nella parte finale della discesa, alla nostra destra, dopo la sbarra si sviluppa un percorso alternativo, noi proseguiamo diritti. Raggiungiamo il prato dell’andata alla nostra destra e decidiamo di percorrerlo sul sentierino presente. Da vicino sulla destra, possiamo ammirare l’azienda agricola, con le vacche al pascolo. Al bivio teniamo la destra utilizzando, una piccola scaletta in legno e proseguiamo verso il punto da dove siamo partiti questa mattina.

After parking in Piazza Filippo Salvi or in other parking lots in Botta di Sedrina, we set off on foot. We begin the climb up Via del Giongo, which runs alongside the stream of the same name. We continue along a paved section reserved for pedestrians. On our right, we spot “La casa dei ragazzi,” a very beautiful building. On our left, we see a sign explaining the characteristics of the Giongo Valley. Continuing on, we reach and pass a small wooden crucifix. At the fork, we continue straight ahead on what is now compact dirt. The trail narrows slightly, and we pass under an arch of vegetation. On our right is a wooden bench, perfect for a short break. Wooden barriers appear on the right, installed to protect against potential falls. The barrier on the right accompanies us for a good stretch of the trail. Rocks begin to appear on the trail surface. On our left, we reach and pass the second rest area. Now the stones have become boulders that make the path more challenging; we proceed with caution. The terrain has changed and narrowed further, but the path continues without difficulty. We reach the second wooden crucifix on our right. To our left, a large, well-maintained green space comes into view; we continue to the left. The trail now runs alongside the Giongo stream, and the stones become more numerous. The water flows slowly to our right as we continue our walk in the cool shade. We climb up from the stream bed to reach the end of the grassy plateau on our left. The surface changes from a trail to a concrete agricultural, forestry, and pastoral track. At the fork, we continue to the left on the compact earthen path. We reach and cross a ford on a tributary of the Giongo stream. The road now begins to climb over a concrete and rocky surface. A signpost informs us that continuing to the right will take us to Bruntino Alto. We easily cross a second concrete ford. Now the trail surface consists of compact earth and small pebbles; the path is easy to walk on. We have reached the small chapel of Bruntino Alto on our left. After a brief stop, we head back toward Botta di Serina, reading the information on the sign on the left. Toward the end of the descent, on our right, past the gate, an alternative path branches off; we continue straight ahead. We reach the meadow we passed on the way there on our right and decide to walk along the small path there. Up close on the right, we can admire the farm, with cows grazing. At the fork, we keep to the right, using a small wooden staircase, and continue toward the spot where we started this morning.
