40 - Pista ciclabile dell'Oasi di Seriate

L’Oasi Verde della Sponda Sinistra del fiume Serio, sita in via Lazzaretto, è il parco pubblico attrezzato più esteso di Seriate, frequentato soprattutto nella stagione estiva da migliaia di cittadini alla ricerca di refrigerio, svago e tranquillità. Da qui parte la Ciclabile Parco del Serio nord, da Seriate a Ghisalba. Il percorso parte da Seriate ed arriva a Ghisalba percorrendo la sponda orografica sinistra del fiume Serio, questo tratto è ben segnalato e mantenuto e durante il percorso è possibile vedere vecchie cascine, campi coltivati e cave di ghiaia a ridosso del letto del fiume, nel periodo della transumanza la pista viene utilizzata anche dai pastori ed è facile ritrovarsi in bici in mezzo alle pecore. Un palo segnaletico ci informa che l’accesso è consentito ai residenti. Un secondo palo segnaletico ci fornisce ulteriori informazioni. Ci incamminiamo sul sentiero dell’oasi. Al primo bivio svoltiamo a sinistra. Raggiungiamo una fontanella dove è utile far rifornimento d’acqua. Proseguiamo ora spediti sul sentiero che risulta compatto e facilmente percorribile. In fondo a questo tratto intravediamo l’asse interurbano. Proseguiamo sotto al cavalcavia della superstrada. Dopo aver superata una sbarra sulla sinistra, proseguiamo fino a raggiungere il “Laghetto delle rane”. Superato il laghetto, di fronte a noi vediamo l’impianto luminoso che accompagna gli aeroplani in fase di atterraggio all’aeroporto di Orio. Dopo aver superato l’impianto sulla destra troviamo un pannello in legno con le informazioni sull’oasi. Durante il cammino raggiungiamo un bivio, noi proseguiamo a destra verso un tratto in discesa, il fondo ora è in acciottolato. Superiamo ora l’A4 passando nel tunnel posto sotto l’autostrada. Proseguiamo lungo il sentiero e incontriamo sulla destra alcuni tavoli con panche. Ora passiamo sotto alla circonvallazione sud di Bergamo. Sulla sinistra incontriamo un secondo pannello informativo. Proseguiamo lungo il sentiero che si mantiene compatto e facilmente percorribile. Al bivio che incontriamo svoltiamo a destra. Sulla nostra sinistra vediamo una ditta che prepara il materiale inerte per le massicciate stradali. Ora ci troviamo ad affrontare dei lunghi rettilinei. Sulla sinistra è presente una piazzola di sosta con tavoli e panche. Dopo circa 500 m. troviamo sulla destra un’altra piazzola di sosta attrezzata. In fondo all’ennesimo rettilineo svoltiamo a sinistra. All’altezza del traliccio svoltiamo a destra. Raggiungiamo ora un canale scolmatore e decidiamo di fermarci qui, senza proseguire per il castello di Malpaga e Ghisalba. Saliamo sul ponticello ed osserviamo la zona. L’acqua del canale scarica, scorrendo da est a ovest nel fiume Serio. Ritornando verso il punto di partenza raggiungiamo nuovamente la A4. Arrivati in prossimità del “Laghetto delle rane” osserviamo un aereo in fase di atterraggio. Siamo ormai arrivati al termine della nostra passeggiata e là in fondo vediamo panche e tavoli per il picnic.

The Green Oasis of the Left Bank of the Serio River, located in via Lazzaretto, is the largest public park in Seriate, frequented especially in the summer season by thousands of citizens in search of refreshment, recreation and tranquillity. The Serio North Park cycle path starts from here, from Seriate to Ghisalba. The route departs from Seriate and arrives at Ghisalba along the left orographic bank of the Serio river; this stretch is well signposted and maintained, and along the way it is possible to see old farmsteads, cultivated fields and gravel pits close to the river bed; during the transhumance period the track is also used by shepherds and it is easy to find oneself cycling among the sheep. After parking the car, we turn right and start walking. A signpost informs us that access is permitted to residents. A second signpost gives us further information. We set off on the oasis path. At the first fork, we turn left. We reach a drinking fountain where it is useful to fill up with water. We now continue along the path, which is compact and easily passable. At the end of this section we catch a glimpse of the interurban axis. We continue under the highway overpass. After passing a barrier on the left, we continue until we reach the "Frog Pond". Having passed the pond, in front of us we see the light installation that accompanies aeroplanes landing at Orio airport. After passing the installation on the right we find a wooden panel with information about the oasis. On the way we reach a fork in the road, we continue right towards a downhill stretch, the ground is now cobbled. We now pass the A4 through the tunnel under the motorway. We continue along the path and meet some tables with benches on the right. We now pass under the southern Bergamo bypass. On the left we encounter a second information board. We continue along the path, which remains compact and easily passable. At the fork we meet, we turn right. On our left we see a company preparing inert material for roadbeds. We now face long straight stretches. On the left is a lay-by with tables and benches. After about 500 metres, we find another equipped lay-by on the right. At the end of yet another straight stretch, we turn left. At the pylon we turn right. We now reach a spillway and decide to stop here, without continuing on to Malpaga and Ghisalba Castle. We climb over the small bridge and observe the area. The water from the canal drains, flowing to west. The spillway that drains into the Serio river. Returning towards the starting point, we reach the A4 again. Arriving in the vicinity of the 'Frog Pond', we observe an aircraft in the process of landing. We have now reached the end of our walk and there at the end we see benches and tables for a picnic.
