Descrizione
Spending a night at the Albani Hut (altitude: 1939 m) means watching the unique magic of the Presolana walls: the vertical limestone changes its fades from dazzling white at noon to pink at sunset, to dark and striking before a storm.
The hut is the base of several ski mountaineering trips as well as for the hard climbing routes on the north face of the Presolana. The via ferrata “Passo della Porta” crosses the mountain to access the south face, from which the normal route for the peak begins. In winter, the mountain hut can be reached from the ski resorts in Colere with a short off-track stretch.
The hut was built in 1967 and it replaced the Trieste Hut (1924) which served an old mine. It is dedicated to the first climber of the north face of the Presolana, and it is owned by the Bergamo section of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI). It sleeps 70, it is open daily in summer, and it is the last stop on Sentiero delle Orobie / Central-eastern Orobie Trail.
